Spencer Pride, Inc. is focused on creating events which educate the public about rural lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, & intersex (LGBTQI) people & issues in order to make our community a safer & more welcoming place.
We provide a voice for the LGBTQI community to help foster an environment where there is no disparagement in opportunity simply because of one’s gender expression, sexual orientation, or related perceptions of the same.
We welcome everyone to join us as we continue to cultivate a community of compassion & celebration for all people.
We have two annual events each year and also host a variety of other events, in addition to participating in many activities that help us to achieve our mission.
- The Spencer Pride Festival is an admission-free rural LGBTQI pride festival that takes place on the square of the Owen County Courthouse in Spencer, Indiana. The Spencer Pride Festival is the largest rural LGBTQI pride event in Indiana. Spencer is the smallest town with such a large LGBTQI pride event in the Midwest! The Spencer Pride Festival takes place on the first Saturday in June each year. In 2015, the event brought 1500 people to the Owen County Courthouse square on June 6. In 2016, our 10TH ANNUAL SPENCER PRIDE FESTIVAL will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 10 AM until 8 PM. The Spencer Pride Festival is known for its family-friendly and inclusive atmosphere, all in a small town setting unlike most LGBTQI pride events.
- A Night at the Tivoli is the main event of LGBT History Month. It is held on the second Wednesday in October at the beautiful historic Tivoli Theatre which was restored and re-opened in 2013. This event features a film, educational activities, and a reception for generous donors who make the informative & entertaining night possible. The 2015 event took place on Wednesday, October 14 and was a huge success! Check out our news archive for the details.
