Brothers United is a community based organization providing HIV/STD awareness, education and prevention.

The mission of Brothers United is to enhance the health and wellness of our community, which includes those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and the people who live and work in our neighborhoods. Brothers United provides high quality, comprehensive HIV/STD prevention and service programs in a welcoming environment and seeks to improve the overall health of the Indianapolis community, through education and training, outreach and advocacy, prevention and research.

Programs and Services

Education, Outreach and Prevention

Club & Street Outreach
Outreach happens during non-traditional hours at locations throughout Indianapolis, to deliver tailored and appropriate messages and materials to encourage safe sex, risk reduction and the importance of knowing your HIV status.

Internet Outreach and Prevention
Internet prevention and outreach focuses on HIV/STD prevention, education and awareness on social media websites and chatrooms to encourage safe sex, risk reduction.

Linkage to Care (L2C)
Linkage to care provides people living with HIV 24/7, one-on-one access to trained HIV specialists. L2C specialists empower clients by helping to eliminate barriers to care and by providing necessary support to stay connected to care and treatment.

Counseling and Testing

Counseling Testing & Referrals (CTR)
Activities designed to increase knowledge of HIV status, encourage risk reduction and secure needed referrals for appropriate medical, prevention, and partner notification counseling and referral services. We offer FREE & CONFIDENTIAL HIV Testing. (We use the Oraquick HIV Antibody Tests – No blood, no needles. Results in 20 minutes)

STD Screenings
In collaboration with Bellflower clinic, Brothers United provides FREE & Confidential STD screenings for Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Trichomoniasis (Trich). (STD screening is provided on Tuesday & Thursdays).

Comprehensive Risk Counseling & Services (CRCS)
An intensive, individualized, counseling program for adopting and maintaining HIV risk reduction behaviors. This program is designed for persons living with HIV/AIDS and who may struggle with issues such as substance abuse, and physical and mental health challenges that may pose as barriers to maintaining risk reduction behaviors.

Support Services

Support for Persons Living with HIV
A group level intervention that promotes the sexual health and well being of men living with HIV/AIDS through weekly support group meetings and workshops.

Young Adult Discussion Group
The Immaculate Men Acquiring Genuine Excellence (IMAGE) is a youth group focused on educating and empowering today’s generation by creating a comfortable space to discuss issues such as sexuality, education, relationships, and healthy sexual behavior.

Adult Discussion Groups
3MV, an adult discussion group for MSM ages 25 & over, aims to prevent HIV & STD transmissions by discussing factors that influence behavior such as cultural and social interactions and by teaching participants assertiveness & behavior modification techniques.

Transgender Support Services
A group supporting Transgender persons in Indianapolis who deal with specific needs of Transgender community. Monthly life skills workshops are also included in Transgender support services.
